Accident & Emergency
Enhancing Safety and Improving Workflow
The Accident and Emergency (A&E) Department – sometimes called Emergency Room (ER) or Casualty Department – is an area within a hospital specialising in emergency medicine which is the acute care of patients who present themselves without a prior appointment either by themselves or via an ambulance. Due to the unplanned nature of patients attending, the A&E Department must be medically equipped to provide initial treatment for a broad range of illnesses and injuries. Hospital refurbishments and developments have focused on providing a positive experience for patients during this difficult time. This includes having medical equipment constructed to enhance easier access around the patient bay area which results in more efficient clinical workflow and better patient outcomes.
