Rigid and retractable pendants are designed for operating theatres and anaesthetic rooms. They are intended to distribute electrical services, medical gases and AGSS to the operating table/anaesthetic machine thus leaving the surrounding area free from trailing cables and hoses.

A maximum of 8 electrical sockets and 9 medical gas and AGSS terminal units can be accommodated on each pendant. Other specialist outlets such as equipotential sockets and low-voltage data sockets can be fitted into the pendant as required.

Typically, a general surgery operating room will contain an anaesthetist's pendant at one end of the operating table and a separate surgeon's pendant at the other. If the operating room is to be used for cardiac surgery, a third pendant may be required for the perfusionist.
